On October 16th, the Junior Varsity Jaguars traveled to Ocean View Seahawks for their first league game. After a two week layoff, the Jaguars were anxious to play. The Seahawks received the opening kick off and was held to a three and out first series by the Jaguar defense. With great field position, the Jaguar offense scored on its first offensive play from scrimmage. Robert Soncrant Jr. took the hand off and ran for a 42 yard TD. The point after was good by Johnny Miranda. The Seahawks returned the ensuing kickoff to their 40 yard line. They never made it past midfield as the Jaguar defense held them to only five offensive plays. The offense took over, and again scored on the first play from scrimmage on a run by Robert Furman from 38 yards out. The PAT was missed wide right. The score was 13-0. On the next defensive series, the defense got in on the scoring. Linebacker Luis Lopez intercepted a Seahawks pass at the 14 yard line and returned it for a TD. The PAT was good making the score 20-0 as the first quarter came to an end. The Jaguars were not done getting to the end zone yet. In the second quarter after another great defensive effort by the Jaguars, the offense got the ball on their 35 yard line after the Seahawks punt. On the second play of the series, fullback Josh Espinoza took the handoff and ran 56 yards down the middle of the field for a TD. The PAT sailed wide once again making the score 26-0. With just a few minutes remaining in the second quarter the Jaguar defense held the Seahawks deep in their end of the field. When the Seahawks fumbled a fourth down fake punt, defensive end Davon Davaloz scooped up the ball and ran it back for a TD. The PAT was good making the score 33-0 at half.
On the opening kickoff of the second half, Michael Jimenez returned the ball from the Jaguar 35 yard line for a TD. It was the first special teams TD of the season for the Jaguars. The PAT was good making the score 40-0. The Seahawks were threatening to score midway through the third quarter but the defense held them out of the end zone. The offense got the ball back on their 42 yard line and after a long series of run plays, Jaguar fullback Johnny Santiago ran for a 28 yard TD. The PAT was good making the score 47-0 as the third quarter came to an end. The defense held the Seahawks once again when they looked like they might break onto the score board. After the Jaguar defense sacked the Seahawks QB, the Jaguars got the ball back on their 35. After a long series, the Jaguar offense scored one more time in the fourth quarter on a run by fullback Manny Gonzalez from 27 yards out. The PAT was blocked making the final score 53-0 and the Jaguars their first League victory.
