Segerstrom Freshman vs. Ocean View HS

Segerstrom 28
Calvary Cahpel 7 Final Score

On October 16, the Jaguar freshmen football team started their quest for the Goldenwest league title with their first league game against Ocean View. The Jaguars came out strong again with a 30 yard run by Robert Sevilla which was capped off with a 3 yard TD run by Gabriel Roa. The Jaguars would miss the extra point to lead 6-0 early in the first quarter. The Jaguars would get the ball back moments later when Ocean View fumbled the ball on their first play from scrimmage. With the ball, the Jaguars marched down the field to score again. However, the touchdown run was called back because of a block in the back. From that point on, the Jaguars seemed sluggish and unable to move the ball and turned it over on downs twice and fumbled the ball away once. The sluggish offense also affected the defense as Ocean View connected on a 60 yard pass and a 5 yard touchdown run. With the successful extra point, the Jaguars found themselves in unfamiliar territory being down 7-6 at the half.

However, in the second half, sensing the adversity, the Jaguars came out energized and ready to play. The offense started to open large holes for the running game and the running backs took full advantages of those holes scoring 22 unanswered points. The scoring came from touchdown runs of 30, 65 and 10 yards by Gabriel Roa. Running back Robert Sevilla, Elisha Thomas, and Jimmy Guiterrez and receiver Vince Aranda helped set up those touchdown runs. The defense also stepped up and prevents the Seahawks from moving the ball and keeping them off the scoreboard. With the rejuvenated performance, the Jaguars would win their first Goldenwest League match up. With this win the freshmen Jaguars bring their season record to 6-0 and 1-0 in league.
