Laguna Hills 14 Final Score

On September 18, 2008, the Junior Varsity Jaguars had there home opener versus the Laguna Hills Hawks. The Jaguars got off to a bad start throwing an interception on their first drive of the game. The Hawks capitalized on the Jaguar mistake scoring on a trick play to go on top 6-0 early in the first quarter. After converting the PAT, the score was 7-0. The two defensive squads traded turns on the field, allowing little offense for both teams. Finally, late in the second quarter, the Jaguars put together a drive of there own. Starting at there own 35 yard line, the Jaguars ran several plays and eventually scored when QB Joseph Mejia ran a QB keep from the two yard line. The PAT was not converted when the snap was fumbled by the Jaguars. The score was 7-6 going into halftime.
The second half was much like the first- a defensive battle. The Hawks scored first midway through the third quarter and converted the extra point. The score was now 14-6. The Jaguars then returned the kick to the Hawks forty. Five plays later, at the end of the third quarter, the Jaguars scored on a five yard run by Josh Espinoza. The Jaguars went for two but were held out of the end zone by the Hawks. The score was 14-12. The Jaguars tried to put on a late fourth quarter drive but were denied and turned the ball over on downs. The Hawks then ran out the clock. Final score 14-12.
