Santiago 0 Final Score
On September 25th, the Junior Varsity Jaguars (2-1) traveled to Santiago High for their next game. The Jaguars were looking to get back on track after their first loss last week. It didn’t take long. Santiago received the opening kick. The Jaguar defense stopped the Cavaliers on three offensive plays and blocked the fourth down punt into the end zone for a touchback. The Jaguar offense got the ball and scored quickly, thanks to the great field position provided by the defense. Mynor Garcia started the scoring with a 4 yard plunge into the end zone and the PAT was converted by kicker Johnny Miranda, making the score 7-0 early in the first quarter. The Jaguars never looked back. At halftime the score was 21-0 in favor of the Jaguars.
The defense, led by Jesus De La Torre, Luis Lopez, Trevor Cormier, and Robert Fernandez, held the Cavalier offense out of the end zone for the entire game. The Jaguar offense followed the lead of the defense and scored three more touchdowns on runs by Josh Espinoza, Robert Soncrant Jr., and Omar Delgado. The last touchdown came from the defense. After the Cavalier quarterback fumbled the ball during a sack, Jesus De La Torre scooped up the fumble and returned it for a 15 yard touchdown. On the ensuing PAT, the snap went high and holder Hector Diaz ran right into the end zone. Final score 36-0.
