On September 18, the Segerstrom Jaguar freshmen team traveled to South County to face the Laguna Hills Hawks. The Jaguars took the opening drive and marched 60 yards ending with a touchdown by wing back Jimmy Gutierrez. However, on the Hawks first offensive drive, the Hawks’ quarterback connects with a wide receiver resulting in a 50 yards touchdown which makes the score 7 to 7. On their next two drives, the Jaguars could not protect the ball resulting in 2 lost fumbles. Sensing the struggles of the offense, the defense stepped up by intercepting the Hawks four times ending any chances of sustaining a drive. Corners Emmanuel Akonor and Elisha Thomas also stepped up their game by almost intercept 1 pass and preventing any more receivers to make a completion. In the second half, the defense step up and prevented the Hawks from scoring with the offense struggles to move the ball. The game end with a 13 to 7 victory for the Jaguars to bring their preseason record to 3 wins and no loses.
